Celebrate: Too Relaxed? & Giveaways

An egg ...  or meee?!

I was sleeping very comfortably, somehow not realizing it was Thursday and I'd forgotten to do a Celebrate post. But I accidentally woke up in the wee hours and whipped this off!

I've had a good, relaxed week, and I think I've come up with the character arc I so desperately need for my next novel. (I can't write a character if I have no idea what that character's arc is.)  So yay for me and Paris Underworld! Now I just have to finish Coldest Night ...

Have you ever lost track of what day it was, especially when you have days off work?

Happy Memorial Day!

Yeah, I kept thinking this past Monday was Friday! I almost forgot about this week's post, too. Haha!

That is a great idea to have your character's story arc before writing. I always have a problem finding the story arc. Maybe that's why I have struggled so much with my novel.

Even when I'm at work I occasionally lose track of the days! Have a great weekend :)

Because I'm self-employed, I lose track of what day it is all the time, LOL. That's great how you've been so relaxed lately, and many congrats on the character arc! I always feel stuck until I can figure out such things, too. Best of luck with Coldest Night and Paris Underworld! (Love those titles!)

Hooray for figuring out the character arc!
I always forget what day it is. All I usually know is whether or not I have to go to work.

Cool picture!

I know what today it is--Friday. And I've got a three day weekend. Yay!

I've done that before where I jump out of bed to whip up a post. There are so many great books out there and so little time. Have a great Memorial Weekend, Lexa!

Erika Beebe said...

Right there with you Lexa. I didn't forget. I just got lost behind the busy time of year. Happy Memorial Day to you. May the memories of all those you love lift you up. I really like the name of your new work, "Coldest Night."

I take a day off and it will just completely mess me up. But I'm all right with that.

Glad you had a relaxing week and figured out your story line. Enjoy your weekend!

I often lose track of what day it is. Now I can claim it's because I'm a writer and every day is the same - but I used to do it when I had a 'proper' job too.

Rachna Chhabria said...

Hi Lexa, I lose track of time very often especially when I'm off work :)

Beverly Stowe McClure said...

I'm constantly looking at the calendar or the computer to see what day it is. Don't know what that means.
So happy for you that you found the characters arc.
Have a great weekend. It is Friday, right?

I once went to church on a Saturday morning, thinking it was Sunday.

Tonja Drecker said...

Post? Today? Lol! I almost forgot too. With the kids out of school, my sense of time totally disappears. So glad you slept and those ideas came floating to you. Happy writing!

My husband is home today and I'm all confused thinking it's Saturday.

I love that cat picture. The photographer was very clever.

Suzanne Furness said...

Yes, I sometimes get confused about the days too! Pleased to hear your character arc is coming together well. Enjoy your weekend.

H. R. Sinclair said...

Oh yes, but lose track of the day even when I work. :/

Kate Larkindale said...

I'm always losing track of the days, but maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part because I always want it to be closer to Friday than it is.

Deanie Humphrys-Dunne said...

Yay for you for sure! That's a big thing to celebrate. Have a great weekend.

I can definitely relate to this. I never know what day of the week it is, probably because I'm not working and living on a boat. I often have to check my calendar to check and even see what month it is ;-)

messymimi said...

If it were not for my paper calendar and writing down everything on it, i would most assuredly lose track of days. Hope you have a great weekend!

Not bad for something wiped off in the middle of the night. And, relaxed is good.

It is amazing to think that our brains work so hard when we are sleeping and we sometimes wake up because something is bothering us in the back of our minds. You did a great job getting this post done!

Awesome news about the character arc!

Yes, before I got my present job, I would wonder what the day was. Back then, the one difference was that on weekends most shops were closed, but these days you don't even have that much difference!

I'm retired and rarely know what day of the week it is - it's a wonderful feeling! LOL!

HA! You are not alone - I woke up Friday morning realizing it was Friday instead of Thursday and I hadn't done my Friendly Fill-Ins / Celebrate the Small Things post the night before. :) It's been such a crazy busy week, I think I'm several days behind on just about everything - and Memorial Day snuck up on me, so I didn't plot and plan our usual camping trip - oops! But hey, the weather's awesome for once on this particular weekend, so we'll enjoy some grillin' and chillin' time at home! :)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

My days off go by way too fast and I half the time never know what day of the month it is. LOL

DA Cairns said...

My problem with days off is not forgetting what day it is when I'm off, it's forgetting what day it is when I go back to work. We have regular activities in class, each week on certain days, so public holidays wreak havoc.

I was interested to read that you have to have a character arc before you can start the story. Happy to hear you got it.

Love that photo - so clever!!! Mixing up days of the week happens to me too - sometimes I'm ahead of myself and at other times behind - but I know it's the weekend now and that's ALL that matters!! Enjoy yours and thanks as always for hosting :)

Ooh...Paris underworld. Now that sounds intriguing. Good going, Lexa! I noticed David had an e-zine and was curious. Need to check that out!

J.H. Moncrieff said...

Good luck with the book! Both books.

I don't know if I've ever forgotten what day it is, but I've definitely lost track of time.

Lexa,

I lose track of days all the time but I find when we have a holiday weekend that I really lose my way. This summer I'm taking it way easy with posting, eventually, I will work back in CTST. I just need to find a nice groove for keeping things going while I'm taking a semi-hiatus from blogging. So, glad you developed your character arc for your next novel. Have an excellent week, my friend!

H.R. Bennett said...

Nice set of giveaways here.

Also, yes. I have definitely lost track of the days. The worst of which was after a major surgery. A combination of laying around taking medications while I recovered and just watching the sun come and go...an entire month fell away in a smear of sunlight that occasionally wiped across the sky.

Murees Dupè said...

I'm always out of sync with what day of the week it is;) It happens. Congrats for figuring out that story arc. Good-luck with the writing of your novel.

Annie Neugebauer said...

Haha! Yes, I always lose track of the days when I'm off work! That cat is cute. There's a whole subreddit called "stuff on cats" where people stack random things on sleeping cats. That's what that made me think of. :)

I lose track of days all the time during the summer. With the kids home all the time, it's bound to happen.

Losing track of what day it is, is a common occurrence here. I bow down to my Google Calendar for keeping in on track and at appointments I've scheduled and forgotten.

I'll guess that the image has to do with something you can't create an omelet out of, but I've been wrong before.

Have I ever lost track of days? Um ... can you see my blush? I have had to apologize on my blog at east a half dozen times for totally spacing the day. It is especially bad when I'm on break.

Yay for the character arc! I can't wait to finish reading Coldest and then move on to Paris

Tamara Narayan said...

If the kids have Monday off from school, then I'm totally discombobulated for the rest of the week.

I can never remember what day it is if I don't have some kind of external schedule (work, appointments, etc.) to keep me on track!
